A UTTOXETER organisation raising money for various charities has celebrated the 90th anniversary of the parent club in style.
The Inner Wheel (IW) Club of Uttoxeter saw around 50 members make their way to Bramshall Village Hall to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland.
The festive evening commenced with a service held in Bramshall Church, which was led by Reverend John Lander.
The service consisted of members alternating some festive carols and readings based around the theme of the Christmas story.
Dr Michael Woodhead kept everyone in time and tune with his playing of the organ.
Organisers said that after the congregation left the church they then headed for refreshments in the village hall.
Here they were greeted by home made treats by members of the club and the evening closed with the drawing of a ‘Christmassy’ raffle by president Anne Harris.
Members of the Inner Wheel of Uttoxeter raise money for various charities locally, nationally and internationally.
In the past these charities have included the Uttoxeter Mayor’s Fund, Uttoxeter Association for the Blind, St Giles Lymphoedema Clinic, Staffordshire Wildlife, Sight Savers, Canine Partners, Brainwave, Smile Train, 500 miles and Hamlyn Fistula.
Recently members raised money through a wine tasting evening for victims of the Phillipines following the Haiyan Typhoon.
