ON Thursday, January 12 sometime between 8 and 9am several police cars, an ambulance and fire engine, blue lights flashing, went racing past our house and stopped several hundred yards further along towards Stone on the B5027.
Shortly after the police and an ambulance, blue lights still flashing, went racing back in the direction of Uttoxeter and a while later a lowloader passed with the mangled, burned out remains of a car on.
Later I found out the driver of the burnt out vehicle had been Lucy Sargeant, who had suffered extensive injuries and was then in intensive care.
Lucy works at the family’s butchers shop in Bramshall and has impressed everyone with her pleasant, cheerful and hard-working disposition.
Had it not been for the quick-thinking bravery of a near neighbour who managed to free Lucy before the car she was in went up in flames we would have lost a lovely young lady with a a bright future.
Without this help she would no longer be gracing us all with her presence.
On behalf of everybody, thank you Andrew Murray.
