COUNCILLORS Hardwick and Staples, do you remember what you said to the paper? Quality car parks must be paid for.
You never said anything about what was going to happen at the Maltings car park which belongs to the Uttoxeter public.
In the paper: Work to start on major development after the residents were given the opportunity to name it.
I say, what residents? There are only about six residents in the area. Did you ask the traders in the precinct, or the doctors at Northgate Surgery, or the public who park their cars? Part of the Maltings car park was put in a deal with a development plan.
Councillor Brookes is chairman of East Staffordshire Borough Council planning committee can he tell us what this deal was? It is going to cause the public a lot of worry.
The doctors at Northgate Surgery are trying to help the people of this town but the council are not.
Because of yellow lines the public cannot get out of their vehicles in front of the surgery and now they will not be able to park at the back of the surgery because of these new houses.
Will the footpath that has been there for years be blocked off and will the main entrance to the Maltings be closed? So will senior citizens or any one else that is unable to get to the surgery be directed instead to Sargeant’s abbatoir? Then there is the Bank House trying to make a living.
The plan was passed three years ago and yet you spent thousands on resurfacing the car park knowing it was going to be ripped up again.
And you councillors have the gall to talk about paying for quality car parks.
Lionel Thacker, Westlands Road, Uttoxeter.
