Conveniences fiasco shows how much ESBC cares about Uttoxeter

IN the paper: Smelly public toilets an embarrassment to town.

I think it shows just what East Burton Town HallStaffordshire Borough Council (ESBC) think of Uttoxeter Town Council.

I do not see any members of ESBC standing outside these toilets in their Sunday best.

The borough council have confirmed that these toilets are cleaned twice a day —- but the toilets are prone to problems. To say this and do nothing tells me the borough council is not really earning the large amount of money it gets.

Why do the environmental health staff not take the ESBC to task? They inspect other premises and their names are put in the paper along with a star rating and the time they have to correct any faults.

Why can’t the ESBC-owned toilets come under the rules? Why has a local councillor who lives nearby not got involved? A spokesman for ESBC said the toilets in Trinity Square are cleaned twice a day but like public conveniences in the borough these old facilities are prone to a variety of problems which they are aware of.

To this spokesman, Mr No Name, I say we have enough bull on the entrance to the town.

Uttoxeter Town Council should be sticking up for the town to get something done to these toilets instead of trying to sort out a coat of arms.

Although I do think I may have a suggestion for where they can hang this coat of arms.

Lionel Thacker,

Westlands Road,

Uttoxeter.
