VOLUNTEERS are preparing Lent lunches for all at a Uttoxeter church in aid of an international appeal.
Hazel Edginton and the team of volunteers, of United Reformed Church, in Carter Street, are holding the Lent lunches on Friday lunchtimes between 11.30am and 1.30pm at the church for the next three weeks to raise money for Water Aid.
Mrs Edginton said: “It’s going very well so far and we have raised approximately £190 to date.
“I would like to urge everyone to come along and support the cause, we are offering a choice of three different homemade soups with fresh bread and cheese and a choice of tea or coffee for just £2 a head.
“Everyone is welcome to come along.
“It’s a great cause and we’re aiming to get aroudn £400 which is what we’ve managed in previous years.
“Two groups of ladies are helping to run the lunches and we have had a great turn out so far.”
