A UTTOXETER dog owner walked away with a top prize at an international dog show, up against strong competition.
John Averis and his dog Keera, a two-year-old Airedale Terrier, won a ‘prestigious’ Best of Breed award at Crufts, the world’s biggest dog show, of which Keera was one of more than 21,500 dogs.
Mr Averis and Keera fought off competition from a number of other Airedale Terriers to scoop the prize.
The 46-year-old said: “It’s absolutely fabulous to have won again, I’ve won Best of Breed before.
“It’s something that you dream of and even if you’ve won it before you still get that same thrill.
“I get the same buzz every year and this year is even more special because it’s both of them.
“Once you’ve had a taste of victory you want more.”
This year’s Crufts attracted dog lovers from all walks of life, with 45 overseas countries represented throughout the four-day show.
