A UTTOXETER radio presenter is embarking on a weight-loss challenge to drop three dress sizes in two months.
Kate Copeland, a presenter on East Midlands Internet Radio, is taking up the challenge of dropping from a size 20 to a size 14 to raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.
This week she started an intensive diet and exercise regime with at luxury resort Hoar Cross Hall with fitness instructor Kynan O’Leary.
She said: “I have to say, I’m already in a huge amount of pain from the training, which I do at least four days a week.
“I’ve also been given a home training programme so, even when I get home from the gym, the pain doesn’t end.
“The diet involves taking in much fewer carbs and a higher amount of protein.
“I don’t usually eat breakfast but I now get a text at 7.50am every day from Kynan reminding me to have some.
“Then I’m allowed a snack at about 10.30am, which can be fruit or Greek yoghurt.
“One of the main things I’m going to miss is coffee, which I usually drink quite a lot of.
“It’s not deemed acceptable as it’s full of toxins and is too addictive.”
Foods designed to help Miss Copeland, who lives off Stone Road, burn fat are being promoted by her trainer.
Pomegranate seeds and grapefruit juice, of which the 28-year-old has to drink two glasses a day, are among the fat-busting foods she has to consume.
In the gym, Miss Copeland is being put through her paces on the treadmill, bike, and step machine.
She is also using kettle bells to perform muscular excercises.
Miss Copeland said: “I would only ever join women-only gyms in the past as I found exercising with men present a little intimidating.
“But at Hoar Cross Hall it’s a really welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and everyone encourages each other so much.
“Also it’s amazing to go and relzx in the luxury swimming pool and sauna after a tough training session.”
“Some of my training involves using the punch bag. I find picturing my ex-boyfriend’s face on the bag helps motivate me.”
Miss Copeland’s progress will be documented on her radio show, which runs from 7pm to 10pm every Wednesday at www.emiradio.co.uk.
She has until March 27 to hit her target and anyone who wants to donate to her charity cause can do so online at www.justgiving.com/fitforfourteen.
