March in the Garden

flowersSpring is in the air and Easter is the perfect time to get stuck into your garden and enjoy the nice weather.

It’s the perfect time to start a new garden project like sowing summer fruits, plant some shrubs and start on areas that really need some work after the winter.

March is a good month for pruning too so you can tackle your shrub roses, heathers and mahonias. It’s also a good time to start planting and replanting so pick out those that flowered less last season. You can separate these to give them a new lease of life and remember to fertilise.

It’s a good idea to start thinking about how to tackle garden pests. You’re going to see more of slugs and snails so start attacking them before they attack your plants.

Environmentally friendly slug pellets are ideal for this. As well as getting rid of your slug problem, they won’t harm other animals that are beneficial to your garden.

It’s time to put on your wellies and get out into the garden as over the next month you can find all you need for gardening in March right here.
