Man in court over house fire deaths
A man has appeared in court charged with murdering three members of the same family in a house fire.
Carl Mills, 28, appeared before magistrates in Caerphilly, Wales, in connection with the deaths of Kim Buckley, 46, her daughter Kayleigh, 17, and six-month-old granddaughter Kimberley.
All three died in the blaze at their home in Cwmbran on Tuesday morning.
Gwent police said Mills, of no fixed abode in the Manchester area, was remanded in custody and will appear before Newport Crown Court on Monday via video link.
Nicola Rees, senior crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in Wales, said: "These are extremely serious criminal charges and the police investigation continues."
Senior Investigating Officer for Gwent Police, Detective Superintendent Pete Jones, said: "Our thoughts remain with the family of Kim, Kayleigh and Kimberley at this difficult time.
"I would like to thank the family and the wider community of Coed Eva for their patience and support throughout our investigation so far."
