DLT to give third day of evidence

Former Radio One disc jockey Dave Lee Travis will spend a third day giving evidence today against allegations of indecency.

The 68-year-old former Top Of The Pops presenter has repeatedly denied indecently assaulting 10 women and sexually assaulting another.

The alleged offences date back to the height of his fame in the 1970s and continue into the 21st century.

The veteran BBC DJ yesterday dismissed the accusations of one young fan that he assaulted her on the set of Top Of The Pops as "insane" and branded other accusations "lies".

Travis, from Buckinghamshire, denies 13 indecent assaults and one sexual assault.

Appearing at London's Southwark Crown Court under his birth name David Griffin, Travis faces charges relating to offences alleged to have occurred when he was working as a BBC DJ, as a broadcaster with Classic Gold radio, while appearing on Top Of The Pops and when starring in panto.

Giving evidence yesterday, Travis said he had been unfaithful to his wife of more than 40 years, but denied he had assaulted anyone.

He told the trial: "If these women (alleged victims) supposedly are chasing after me because I was the pop star of the day, the question would have to be, why would I go and assault somebody?

"I don't like the idea of assaulting women in any way, shape or form."
