UTTOXETER’S very own Hollyoaks’ star has narrowly missed out on a gong at the television awards.
Former Thomas Alleyne’s High School pupil Anna Passey was voted in the best newcomer category at the National Television Awards, which aired to millions on ITV on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old was competing against Marc Baylis of Coronation Street, Khali Best of Eastenders and Michelle Hardwick of Emmerdale for the title.
Khali Best won the award, collecting his prize from his fellow Eastenders stars Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright, better known as Mick and Linda Carter.
Miss Passey said: “Thank you so much to everyone for the support.
“The fact that so many of you voted has blown me away. It really means a great deal to me.”
However, Miss Passey was still among some of the biggest names in television as she dressed to impress for the glitzy bash, held at London’s O2 Arena.
In a busy year for the actress, she has seen her character go from respectable woman to a deeply disturbed one who is currently incarcerated after pretending to be pregnant, stealing her partners children and trying to kill his ex-wife.
