We’re finally seeing some sun in our skies and many of you are probably jetting off on holidays to distant lands for a spot of exotic sunshine. Great for our moods, not so great for our hair. Luckily, there are plenty of products to protect you from frizzy outbreaks. Yasamin Saeidi tries some of them out.

Mark Hill: Holiday Hair: Sunshine Shampoo: £1.99 50ml, Sunset Smoother Aftersun Conditioner: £1.99 50ml, Sun, Sea Frizz-Free Anti Humidity Spray: £5.99 150ml and Holiday Hair Cover Up! Protection Spray: £5.99, 50ml
Mark Hill is a very good of my hair’s. As soon as they met they hit it off, and they’ve got on really well ever since. Sometimes a brand seems to know what your hair wants intuitively and Mark Hill really seems to suit my hair. So I was really excited about trying these products.
The vibrant or
ange packaging and delicious coconut smell is promising and evokes summer before I’ve even put it anywhere near my hair. As I lather up the shampoo and conditioner into my hair I am a little disappointed to find that the coconut smell doesn’t quite transfer from bottle to head.
Still, I spritz on the Anti-Humidity spray and Cover Up Protection Spray…. And my hair feels super soft and bouncy. The next day my hairdresser comments on how shiny my hair is! So I’m left feeling like as much of a beach babe as someone strolling through the middle of the country possibly can. The friendship between my hair and Mark Hill is further cemented.

TIGI Bed Head: Some Like It Hot Heat & Humidity Resistant Sulphate-Free Shampoo: £10.25, Heat & Humidity Resistant Conditioner £11.50 and Heat & Humidity Resistant Serum £11.00.
The Tigi Bed Head ‘Some Like It Hot’ range promises to keep your hair looking hot whilst protecting it from humidity.
The refreshing blend of avocado, grape, aloe and cucumber in the shampoo and conditioner smells incredible. So good, in fact that I leave the shower in fear of the funny looks I might get as I uncontrollably sniff my own hair. This may sound a little weird, but trust me, if you try it; you’ll be doing the same. The UV protectant in the conditioner makes it perfect to take on holiday. The heat and humidity resistant serum adds the finishing touches of sun protection for your hair, which also smells nice but there is still a little room for improvement on the frizz front.

TOMMYGUNS Leave Me In Conditioner & Styling Crème: £5.99
TO
MMYGUNS Leave Me In Conditioner & Styling Crème is supposed to provide a UV thermal protection for your hair. The beauty of leave in conditioner is that you can re-moisturise your hair in between washes easily.
After washing it, I apply this to my towel dried hair – ready to style as normal. But, incredibly, the product sinks into my fading curls so comfortably that I don’t even need to use any other product! The next day my curls are feeling the bounciest they have in a long time.
This is an almost perfect product, forgiven its scent. The ginger and green tea combination sounds delightful, and indeed smells great on initial application. But, as my hair dries, the smell becomes stale and musty, which is a shame as this may be the best conditioner I’ve ever used.

Paul Mitchell: The Detangler: £4.95 100ml and Heat Seal: £6.75 100ml
![]()
Paul Mitchell offers The Detangler – a conditioner designed to provide a natural sunscreen for your hair – with grape seed extract for fast detangling. The subtle grape odour isn’t enough to wow anyone, but its detangling efforts are certainly credible as my curls feel soft and defined. Following this up with Heat Seal, I hope that this will be locked in as I spray it into my hair. Indeed, it does stay soft, and reasonably in shape the next day, but there is still a halo of frizz surrounding it.

James Brown Heat Protection Spray: £7.14, available from Boots.
The classy packaging offers a promising start to the James Brown Heat Protection Spray, which acts as a protective seal against heat damage, and is useful to use in the winter too as a shield from heat styling products. Upon using this, frizz levels are reduced but at the cost of shape. It is a little pricey for what it is but with the help and support of others to keep hair intact, it is not a bad product in all.
