Eye shadow is used a fair amount by us women, at least almost everyday by myself, so I thought I’d scour the shelves, from pocket friendly brands to some more pricey choices, and report back about what each one was like in colour, texture and staying power.
Below is quite a selection of bands as well as some more new and unusual application methods, feel free to add your opinion via a comment.
Sleek – i-Divine Snapshots Palette – £6.49
This palette has a great range of colours and most have a lovely shimmer to them which transfers well to your eye lids. The packaging is great, it clips securely together to avoid accidents in your handbag and has a full mirror, plus I loved the dense sponge applicator and found that the colour stayed.

Clinique – Lid Smoothie Antioxidant 8-hour Eye Colour – £17
The application method is quite unique and coolly refreshing. Once you’ve squeezed a little out, you use the (cold) metal tip to smooth it over your eye lids. Although I found the colour didn’t pop as much as I like, it left a nice glow and lasted. Plus you have the added benefits of it being an antioxidant.

Max Factor – Colour Precision – £6.99
This precision eye shadow does just that with its lip gloss style applicator. You can add a defined line or sweep it across your whole lid easily. My tip would be to keep your eye closed for a minute straight after applying as it goes on as a liquid and dries, meaning you’ll avoid any major creasing.

Beauty UK – Soho Palette – £3.99
Each palette has a great range of eight colours, some shimmery and some not. The case has a sponge applicator and small mirror for on the go touch ups. Each set is a bargain and does exactly what you expect.

BareMinerals – The Soundtrack Quad – £29
This golden quad comes with simple instructions for a day look and a night look. I really liked the mineral shadow although it is the most expensive of the bunch... but the texture is great and the colours blend effortlessly leaving a great sparkle on your lids.

Accessorize – Silk Baked Eye Shadows – £2.95
You get a fair amount of shadow for your money here, and the texture is soft meaning it spreads well and is great for blending with other shadows. There is a range of colours available and some have a hint of shimmer, which I love in eye shadows.
