A FORUM for Golf Mark One enthusiasts held its 10th anniversary event with huge success.
The Mk 1 Golf Club had more than one reason to celebrate as the car itself was 40 years old this year, with the first versions created in 1974.
Sun shone down on the Golf lovers who descended on Uttoxeter Racecourse for the annual meeting.
Abbots Bromley resident and events manager Anna Bebbington said: "It went really, really well – it was our biggest AGM to date being the 10th anniversary of the club and the 40th anniversary of the Mark One Golf itself.
"We had people come all over from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and even one from Milan who drove for 24 hours to get here.
"The weather helped us a lot, we've not had much luck in the past but it was lovely, and made for a really relaxed atmosphere.
"We had a fantastic drive out into the Staffordshire countryside and managed to get 122 Golfs on the road altogether. There were a few minor breakdowns but we all clubbed together with our knowledge to get everyone back on the go again.
"We had the most people ever turn up and it was the most Mark One Golfs we've ever had attend.
"It's a very social club and there's always something going on and if people want to join up they should log on to the forum.
"We have about 20,000 active forum users, of which 1,000 of those are paid members and its getting bigger all the time.
"On Saturday night we had a fancy dress party with lots of people opting to be the Spice Girls.
"We also had sumo wrestlers which was great fun.
"We're very active across the whole country, with events taking place up and down the UK."

Mrs Bebbington said: "Many join the club to get advice on keeping their cars on the road and maintained.
"It's hugely sociable and we are always welcoming new members."
