TICKET holders for a concert at Uttoxeter Racecourse are being offered a cut-price opportunity to see the voice behind UB40’s biggest hits perform at a Derbyshire festival.

The award-winning Bearded Theory Festival, at Catton Park from May 22 to 25, climaxes on the evening of Sunday, May 25, with a hotly-anticipated headlining performance by UB40 featuring Ali Campbell – the man who sang on the group’s biggest hits.

He is joined by Astro and Mickey Virtue, also members of the classic UB40 line-up.

Ticketholders for the Uttoxeter racecourse event on May 17, which features a version of UB40 with a different singer, will be able to buy a special £25 Sunday-only Bearded Theory ticket on May 25. (Proof of Uttoxeter purchase required, discount tickets available on the gate and on the day only.)

Bearded Theory’s John Atkin said: “Ali Campbell is the unmistakable voice of UB40 to the millions of people who bought the singles and albums.

“We wanted to give music lovers who have paid to see the other band a chance to witness some of those songs performed in a fantastic festival finale.”

UB40 join a line-up which includes Friday night headliner Carter USM, Peter Hook & The Light, Pop Will Eat Itself, Oysterband, Dreadzone, Hayseed Dixie, Fishbone, Dub Pistols, The Orb Sound System and many more.

Weekend tickets are still on sale from www.beardedtheory.com and from Tourist Information Centres in Derby, Burton on Trent, Nottingham and Tamworth.
