UTTOXETER farmers have announced the date of their annual ploughing and hedge cutting match.

On Saturday, September 13, the Uttoxeter district of the Staffordshire and Birmingham Agricultural Society will be holding its annual ploughing and hedge cutting competition at Ashbarn Farm, in Kingstone, near Uttoxeter by kind invitation of David and Cathy Rushton.

The first competition took place in 1900 and with the exception of war years, foot and mouth disease and adverse weather, a competition has been held annually.

Up to six horse teams competing in their own ploughing competition.

Several trade stands will be present and competitions begin at 9am.

Refreshments will be available. Entry is £3 and parking is free.
