WINSTON Churchill, Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI could be spotted in Uttoxeter as a couple decided to celebrate their special day in a unique way.
Instead of wearing their best hats and finest jewellery, guests to the wedding of Lesley and Tom Peaty arrived dressed as their favourite famous person as the happy couple added a unique twist to their nuptials.
The couple, of Westlands Road, led the way with their unique outfits with Lesley making her way down the aisle as Marie Antoinette and Tom arriving as Louis XVI.
Mrs Peaty told the Advertiser the idea for the unique day just came to them as they wanted to do something different.
She said: “We wanted to do something different that was just for fun and not too serious.
“It was really great. We could not have wished for a better day. It really was that good.”
The bride and groom said their vows at a registry office in Ashbourne before returning to The Parks, in Uttoxeter, with their guests for the reception.
To add to the fun theme of the wedding, guests were also treated to a bucking bronco, a bouncy castle and live music with a band and a singer throughout the day.
The duo met over breakfast one Sunday morning in Uttoxeter six years ago and have not looked back since, completing their family with daughter Millie, who is now five.
Mrs Peaty, who works as a barber, added: “We decided to make our wedding a someone famous party and everyone got involved.
“It was just a random idea and it was organised in just three or four months. I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along.
“The effort made was brilliant.
“A lot of people have commented saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to which is brilliant.
“We had Winston Churchill, King Henry, Laurell and Hardy. Spiderman, Cat in the Hat, Robin Hood, Amy Winehouse, Great Gatsby, Chicago, Alice in Wonderland all come along. We had absolutely loads.”
The couple will not be going on their honeymoon straight away but are planning to go Spain in August for a week to celebrate their union.
