A CRANE ‘ruining’ Uttoxeter residents’ view from their back gardens is to be removed by the end of the month.
The crane, which was used to construct the Advance Business Centre, in Church Street, is currently housed on a compound owned by JJL Design and Build Ltd at Dovefields Industrial Estate.
Residents in Dove Walk say the view from their back windows has been ‘dominated’ by the towering structure, which some homeowners have labelled a ‘monstrosity’.
However, JJL bosses have confirmed the crane is now needed for construction work in Milton Keynes and will be removed by the end of January.
One Dove Walk resident, who has lived in the road for 30 years, said the crane made the nearby area ‘look like the docks’.
Adrian Copestake, also of Dove Walk, said: “We don’t want to be bad neighbours and we know we know the deal living next to an industrial estate, but it is undeniably an eyesore and a blot on the landscape.
“We’ve done a lot of good work but now the view from the back window isn’t very pleasant.”
Jesicca Falconer said: “It’s been here for several months and it’s become a bit of a nuissance.
“We’ve generally been quite well-shielded from the estate in terms of the view out the back of the house but the crane’s incredibly visible.”
JJL managing director Lloyd Hopkinson said: “We’d put the crane on our site temporarily while it was inbetween projects.
“It’ll be dismantled and moved in the coming weeks.
“We are talking about an industrial estate here and I don’t think the crane is out of keeping with its surroundings.
“We don’t believe the crane to be an eyesore.”
