This tiny torch for the car has big potential

Ring rechargeable car torch

Priced RRP £5.99, www.ringautomotive.co.uk

EVERY car needs a torch — but not every car has space for a giant lantern taking a shelf full of batteries - writes Stephen Sinfield.

This rechargeable torch is just 6cm in length and slots neatly into the 12 volt socket in your dash meaning that this unobtrusive unit is always fully-charged and ready.

As well as offering emergency lighting when you need it, this little light also offers the added convenience of providing additional courtesy lighting.

With cars now having 12 volt sockets scattered throughout the cabin and luggage areas, there’s plenty of scope to plug in one of these units when you need extra light in a dark corner.

When charging, the lens of the torch glows red — a useful reminder to remove the unit from your 12 volt socket should you own a car whereby your power sockets remain ‘live’ after the ignition is turned off.

With this unit, you never have to worry about replacing batteries or it running flat as you can continually keep the charge topped-up as you drive.

The all-metal design is robust and lightweight, and the unit is easy to turn on and off via a twist-top on/off function.

Every car should have at least one of these units — and as they’re priced similar to a quality pack of batteries, it is affordable as well as practical.
