WHAT looked like being a disappointing day early doors turned out to be a record breaking show with over 200 cattle forward. There was a blistering trade for the show cattle and the buyers were quite happy to reward the producers for their selection of excellent quality cattle!! I think it was a unique situation when the Champion & Reserve Champion were home produced.
The Champion from R Rowlinson was purchased by the judge R Taylor at 440 p/kg and Reserve Champion was from D J Langton which sold for 370 p/kg, purchased by Woolley Bros.

Local family butchers present to purchase stock for the Christmas trade included, R Stafford, Mickleover, N Brown – Ashbourne, R Sargent – Uttoxeter, John Heath – Cheadle, O P Taylors, Leabrooks and Wrights of Codnor.
The truly amazing averages for the show cattle were as follows:-

Top call of the day £1175 for a very smart well grown Limousin X Steer (21 months) from L & J Tinsley at Bolsover.
Generally all sectors were very well bid for.
