LONG-SERVING employees have been celebrated in an awards ceremony at a Uttoxeter biscuit factory.
Forty-nine members of staff received service awards at Fox’s Biscuits, in Cheadle Road, for periods of 25 years, 30 years, 35 years and 40 years working for the business.
Amanda Thacker, 52, received her 25-years’ service award after starting out her Fox’s career 27 years ago as a line worker in the factory.
Ms Thacker, of Stone Road, said: “I’ve enjoyed working here, it’s right on my doorstep so there’s no travelling involved which is convenient.
“I’m a supervisor.
“I started in 1978 on one of the lines and have gone backwards and forwards over the years since then.
“I think Fox’s are a good employer and I like coming to work.”
Payroll clerk Sharon Locker, 52, has worked with the company for 35 years.
Ms Locker, of Church Leigh, said: “I’m very pleased to receive my award for 35 years service.
“In my time at Fox’s Biscuits I’ve worked with lots of different and interesting people along the way.
“There’s a great team spirit at Fox’s.
“I started out at Fox’s on a six week contract, working as a temporary sales officer and moved on from there.
“I’ve worked in payroll for 20 years.
“I found Fox’s to be a very accommodating employer when I had my family.
“They are a good company to work for.”
Liz Platt, who has worked for Fox’s for 25 years, said: “It was a nice afternoon receiving the award. The people are a big reason why I’ve stayed with Fox’s for so long.”
A spokesman for the firm said: “The awards given out at the ceremony are celebrating those who have worked for 40 years, 35 years, 30 years and 25 years.
“Between them, the employees celebrated have done 1390 years which is amazing.
“We do have a high turnover of staff.
“We think Fox’s is quite a family oriented place, with mothers and daughter, nieces and nephews working at the factory.
“This is one of the reasons we have people stay with us for so long.
“Our longest serving employee has been with us for 54 years which is incredible.
“At the ceremony we celebrated people reaching service milestones in 2012 and 2013.”
