CHECKLEY enjoyed a productive road trip as they secured a seven-wicket victory over Porthill Park.
Porthill Park never truly recovered from being 28-4, although Louis Allison (29) and Nick Atkinson (21no) helped them to 119 all out.
Three wickets apiece from Kyle Melis (3-11) and Richard Cooper (3-30) inflicted the bulk of the damage.
Rao Ifthikar Anjum responded with 3-36, but Checkley were not really troubled in the run chase.
Amer Siddique made 40, while it was left to skipper Michael Allen to safely bank the win as he ended unbeaten on 47.
Checkley 2nds suffered a 72-run defeat as they were unable to chase down Porthill Park 2nds.
Their visitors posted a significant total of 215-6 from their 50 overs, thanks largely to a 109-run sixth-wicket stand between Matthew Mason (57) and Faizan Zaroof (42no).
Early on, Checkley had taken wickets regularly to leave Porthill on 63-4, but Zaroof was the steadying rock, putting on 41 with Josh Butler (42) before his innings-defining partnership with Mason.
Ben Haslegrave (2-44) and Peter Appleboam (2-41) took two wickets apiece.
In reply, Checkley made a fist of the run chase, but in between knocks of 26, 25 and 21 for Michael Dale, Dan Knight and Gavin Collett, lost wickets too cheaply and were skittled out for just 143 with nearly seven overs to spare.
Bowlers Matt Farr (4-24) and Joshua Ellams (3-34) were Porthill’s destroyers-in-chief.
