A UTTOXETER teenager has had a close shave to show her support for her friend undergoing treatment for cancer.
Cara Mathews has undergone the unique transformation for the Teenager Cancer Trust which is supporting her friend Eleanor Oldroyd through her battle with sarcoma.
The 17-year-old was surrounded by her friends and peers as her hair fell to the floor around her at Thomas Alleyne’s High School.
Among the audience members was Eleanor who was celebrating her birthday and was treated to gifts and a round of happy birthday by her friends.
Through her brave effort, Cara has raised more than £1,800 for the charity.
The 17-year-old said: “It was a really good event and lots of people came out to support me. My head does feel a little weird now and I can’t stop running my hand over it and looking in the mirror.
“Eleanor was given loads of presents and was surrounded by her friends who made her feel really special which was lovely.
“We also had a representative from the Teenage Cancer Trust come along.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated to the event.”
Cara will also be donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust which turns it into wigs for young people.
