Property maintenance firm gains MCS certificate

A COMPANY repairing and maintaining homes in Uttoxeter is now able to install micro-generation technologies.

Willmott Dixon Partnerships has received full accreditation as an approved installer for a range of micro generation technologies under the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS).

The accreditation allows the company’s qualified tradesmenM to install and maintain the technology used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources.

Willmott Dixon is working with Trent and Dove Housing to repair and maintain 5,200 houses across East Staffordshire and this will enable them to upgrade properties which would benefit from energy-saving measures.

This includes better insulation, solar panels and super-efficient boilers, delivering cheaper fuel bills and reducing carbon emissions.

The MCS is run by the Department for Energy and Climate Change and designed to evaluate products and installers against a robust set of criteria for micro-generation technologies.

Its aim is to provide greater protection for consumers as it independently certifies micro-generation productions and services in accordance with consistent standards and ensure the Government’s grant money is spent in an effective manner.

Managing director Mick Williamson said: “We are seeing a steep increase in the need to find alternative technologies which help to cut expensive fuel costs whilst reducing carbon emissions at the same time, and we are keen to do all we can to meet the demand for renewable energy systems.

“New builds can be designed to incorporate the most up to date in energy efficient technologies, but older properties are more difficult to deal with.

“We are currently involved with a pioneering retrofitting housing project in Rampton Drift and expect to see energy retrofit work entering the mainstream home improvements before long.

“Gaining this important accreditation is excellent news not only for our company, but also our clients and customers.

“It will help them to make the most of the micro-generation technologies and support which is available to them and proves that their installation meets the highest standards of the MCS accreditation.”

Willmott Dixon Partnership works with social housing landlords providing support services to over 135,000 homes, 1,200 public buildings and 50 commercial properties across the UK.
