UTTOXETER females are being invited to feel like a model for the day as a photography studio with a difference brings some Hollywood glamour to the town.
Starphoto has officially opened at 9a High Street, above New Life, offering a fresh, fun and new approach to having a professional picture taken.
It has been set up by photographer Lisa Landells and Helen Kiddle, who is responsible for the PR and marketing, and offers unique birthday parties and best friends’ packages.
With the help of Mrs Landells model daughter Jessica, the duo invites girls to come along with their friends for a full make-over, complete with fun accessories, and then have a shoot together, as well as individual pictures.
They are given a complimentary glass of pink non-alcoholic champagne on arrival, with nibbles and magazines to enjoy while the individual pictures are being taken.
After the session is completed the birthday girl will receive a 10x6 photograph of the group shot and her guests will receive a 7x5 version. They will even provide the invites for the party.
In the best friends’ package, the friends will each receive a 10x8 picture. The individual pictures will be available to order online.
They also have an urban loft room upstairs available to hire where the teenagers and children can put some music on while playing on a PlayStation or Wii.
They can lay on snacks and drinks or parents can provide their own food if they prefer.
This can also be hired out separately.
Mrs Landells, of Uttoxeter, said the idea for the business venture came from her trying to set up the picture for her daughter’s 16th birthday.
She said: “With Jess’s 16th birthday last year, I thought with her friends always talking about her model shots it would be nice to give them a bit of what Jess does and just have a bit of a day of it.
“I searched everywhere locally and there was nowhere.” She managed to get the picture from a photographer in Tutbury as a bespoke request.
As her 40th birthday approached and with her passion for photography, she joined forces with Mrs Kindle, of Helen K PR, and they came up with Starphoto.
Mrs Landells added: “With turning 40 I wanted to do something I was passionate about and that was different and challenging.” Mrs Kiddle, of Marchington, said: “We want to create the look of model shoot which is stylish and fashionable.
“For the girls it is a chance to come and play dress-up and have a fab time.” The shoot is available for anyone from toddlers to adults and Starphoto also offers unique Facebook and Twitter profile pictures.
The make-up used is Mac Pro and Boosily which is natural and organic so ideal for younger children.
