Claire bringing spinning classes to Gym and Tonic

Written byJenny Moody

A POPULAR Uttoxeter gym is set to offer a new exercise class described as a fun way to get healthy and lose weight.

Claire Broach will be joining Gym and Tonic, in Dovefields Retail Park, Town Meadows Way, to teach spinning classes.

Two free taster sessions for those wanting to give it a go will be held at the gym on Monday, October 3 between 5.30pm and 6.15pm and 6.30pm to 7.15pm.

The 34-year-old, from Stone, has been spinning for five years and started teaching this year, now offering courses in three gyms.

She said: “I want to offer my classes to Uttoxeter as I have been told that the other session in the town is quite over subscribed.

“I got in to it as I used to do quite a lot of DJing and I always loved the idea of exercise and music combined.

“I took my first class as I didn’t really exercise that much and I was hooked. I found it difficult but enjoyable.

“I moved to Staffordshire and found a teacher and she helped me achieve my dream. I found the drive to go forward and do it.

“I lost two stone in weight in between six and nine months, mainly through spinning with the help of a diet “It’s a way to enjoy exercise and be healthy. It is just a good work out.

“I am hoping it empowers others to do something as it is available to beginners and those used to exercise.

“We recommend that people considering joining should check with their doctor if they do not exercise often and participants should have a basic level of fitness.” Miss Broach, originally from Bournemouth, works full-time for an engineering company and ran a half marathon in Stafford earlier this year.

She continued: “It is a great way to burn calories.

We have good music and it is fun as it’s like dancing on a bike.

“It will make a big difference to people.” Places for taster sessions are filling up fast and more information is available from Gym and Tonic on 01889 564671.
