ROCESTER have survived relegation after the FA deducted Gornal Athletic 14 points and Highgate United’s ground failed pass an inspection.
The Romans finished second from bottom of the Midland Alliance last season and were due to be relegated to step six of the non-league pyramid.
But they have stayed up after Gornal were hammered with a 14-point deduction by the FA for illegally signing players from Dudley Town.
The deduction left Rocester third from bottom and still in danger of going down, but Highgate were relegated instead after an appeal to the FA in London yesterday morning was unsuccessful.
Now, the Romans will go into the new Midlands Football League Premier Division, a merger of the old Alliance and Midland Combinaton leagues.
The club’s AGM is being held at 8pm on Friday, July 11.
