THE full line-up of concerts for 2014-15 has been announced for a Rocester arts society.

Abbotsholme Arts Society is to host another 'impressive' list of internationally acclaimed artists for their new season of performance which begins in September.

One of the world's leading exponents of period instruments, Rachel Podger, opens the season with the chamber orchestra, Brecon Baroque in works by Vivaldi and J.S. Bach on September 21

Cuarteto Casals (pictured), an 'exceptional' string quartet, will play quartets by Mozart, Schubert and Ravel on October 4.

Their recently released CD of works by Haydn has received high critical acclaim.

Further chamber music will be presented in the shape of the exciting Dutch group, Calefax Reed Quintet on November 17 who arrange much of their programmes and will include Gershwin's 'American in Paris'.

Trio Apaches is a newly-formed piano trio, comprising top soloists from the UK and will perform their own transcription of Debussy's La Mer on February 23.

Cellophony is an exciting eight-cello ensemble who have been wowing audiences with their dynamic arrangements of well-loved classics, including Barber's famous Adagio and Wagner's Prelude from Tristan und Isolde.

The vocal ensemble Blossom Street offers 'wide-ranging and versatile' repertoire, from the English Renaissance up to the Beatles, and before their evening performance will be leading a workshop with members of Abbotsholme School Choir.

Soloist Nicholas Daniel, one of the world's leading oboists with the equally acclaimed pianist, Julius Drake; the Canadian violin virtuoso, James Ehnes, will play unaccompanied Bach and the rising star from Russia, Boris Giltburg, will perform popular sonatas by Beethoven.

Abbotsholme Arts Society has always been committed to encouraging the career development of young promising artists and this season will welcome the Japanese pianist Aisa Ijiri to play works by Bach, Liszt, Prokofiev and de Falla.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or alternatively a subscription is available for the season that will provide a saving on all the concerts.
